I'll Gang Na Mare to Yon Town

Thomas Skillern & Neville Butler Challoner: A Favorite Collection of Popular Country Dances, Number 15 ca. 1812

Solatanssi kahden parin progressiolla.

Musiikki on tasajakoinen. Rakenne: AABB

Kävelyaskelin. (Voi tanssia myös etenevällä chassélla ja koristella sissonne assemblé -askelin.)

A1
A-pari cast off B-parin alapuolelle.

A2
A-pari cast takaisin ylös omalle paikalle.

B1
A-pari menee solan keskellä alas, kääntyy ja palaa takaisin, jääden B-parin paikalle. Samalla B-pari siirtyy A-parin paikalle.

B2
A-pari neljä balancéta (tai muu yhtä pitkä setting).

***

Longways dance, duple minor.

Music: duple time. Repeat structure: AABB

With walking steps. (The dance can be equally well done with forward chassés and further ornamented with eg. sissonnes assemblés.)

A1
Couple A cast off below couple B.

A2
Couple A cast back to own place.

B1
Couple A promenade down the set, turn around and return to couple B's place. Couple B moves up at the same time.

B2
Couple A balancé four times (or use other suitable setting steps).

"The Prince Regent's favourite tune, I'll gang no more to yon town, was correctly and spiritedly played by Mr Gow's band. Miss Tylney Long led off the dance with Mr Crawfurd [...] The dance was so highly approved of, that the musicians continued playing it for no less a time than two hours and a half."
